Scriptorium refund policy
In short. Please use the free 14-day trial to make sure Scriptorium does what you need: once a licence is bought, the sale is final. We do refund a charge made twice or wrongly, a licence we could not deliver, and a fault we cannot fix within 90 days.
1. Try before you buy
Scriptorium is digital software, delivered by download and a licence. Every feature works for 14 days before you pay anything, on your own computer and with your own documents. That is the time to be sure. If you have a question during the trial, write to [email protected] and we will help.
2. Sales are final
Because you can try everything first, a licence is final once it has been issued, except in the cases below and for your rights under the law (section 5). The seven-day cooling-off right for online purchases in the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002, does not apply to software once, with your agreement, the download or its use has begun.
3. When we refund
- A double or wrong charge. You were charged twice for the same computer, or charged the wrong amount.
- A licence we could not deliver. You paid, and we cannot get a working licence to you.
- A fault we cannot fix. Scriptorium does not work substantially as described, you tell us within 90 days of buying, and we cannot put it right within a reasonable time.
Refunds go back to the way you paid, through Paystack for a card payment. Your bank may take a few working days to show it. A refunded licence is withdrawn, and that copy of Scriptorium becomes a reader again the next time it checks with us.
4. When we do not refund
- You changed your mind or no longer need Scriptorium after the trial and the purchase.
- You did not try it during the free trial.
- The problem lies in your computer, its operating system or other software, rather than in Scriptorium.
- The licence was withdrawn because it was misused or shared in breach of the terms.
A new computer is not a reason for a refund, nor a reason to pay again: we move your licence to it.
5. Your rights under South African law
Nothing in this policy limits a right you have under South African law that cannot be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, where it applies to you. This policy works alongside those rights, not instead of them.
6. Chargebacks
If you think a charge is wrong, please write to us first: it is usually quicker than a dispute with your bank. A licence that is charged back is withdrawn while the dispute is open.
7. How to ask
Email [email protected] with:
- your name and the email address you used to buy;
- the payment reference from Paystack, or the date and amount;
- the computer's code (File ▸ Licence ▸ This computer);
- what went wrong, with any message on the screen, or a screenshot.
We will answer promptly and deal with it fairly.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The version in force when you bought your licence applies to that purchase.
